The Nephrology Social Media Collective (NSMC) internship was established in 2015 with the goal of training doctors to effectively harness social media in order to be leaders in medicine. The ability to define one’s personal online identity is a core competency of the future. 
NSMC interns will learn the modern communication skills that are not taught in medical school, residency, or fellowship. Interns will have the opportunity to get actively involved in and contribute to social media projects including NephJC, Renal Fellow Network, NephSim, and NephMadness and also be able to develop their own social media projects.
The internship is designed for residents, nephrology fellows, and nephrology attendings – though anyone is welcome to apply. The curriculum begins January 2019, includes an in person meeting at KIDNEYcon and ends with graduation at Kidney Week 2019.
