The 2nd annual NephMadness Invitation Tournament (NIT) is coming to the National Kidney Foundation 2025 Spring Clinical Meeting (SCM) in Boston, MA!
Who: Current nephrology fellows are eligible to complete. Selected fellows will receive free registration to the 2025 SCM meeting
What & When: During this National Kidney Foundation SCM session on Saturday 4/12/25, 2:30-4:00PM, 4 teams (2 fellows/team) will participate in a tournament style, 90-minute debate competition – inspired by NephMadness debates. Judges will select the winners.
In December 2024, we will assign the fellows two broad topics, each with two subtopics. Selected fellows will be paired by the organizers and SHOULD NOT put in an applications together. Part of the goal is to get to work with fellows from around the country.
Examples of subtopics within one broader topic (from the 2024 Debate):
1. Mineralocortitoid antagonists: Steroidal (subtopic) vs Non-Steroidal (subtopic)
2. IgA Nephropathy: Immunosuppressive Therapy (subtopic) vs Non-Immunosuppressive Therapy (subtopic)
At the Meeting: Each fellow will present one subtopic (will be assigned 2 months before meeting) for 20 minutes. The selected debate topics will be similar to prior NephMadness categories, which is to identify areas within nephrology that are clinically impactful and may have various components for discussion and debate.
