Course Overview
Advances in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) is a one day live virtual conference on home dialysis, sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Experts in the field including clinicians, researchers, clinician-scientists and RNs will discuss recent developments in Peritoneal Dialysis and related home dialysis modalities. Patients will also be involved in this program giving their perspective on dialysis choices. There will be a variety of exciting topics covered, including increasing access to home dialysis, the role of social media in dialysis, and the PD response to Covid-19 in New York City. The full program is outlined below. This conference has been designed for nephrologists, internists, PCPs, nephrology nurses and other allied health care clinicians caring for patients with kidney disorders.
Objectives:
- Review the patient’s perspective on choosing home dialysis
- Discuss the importance of evaluating changes in the peritoneal membrane.
- Describe how to optimize prevention of peritonitis in PD
- Review increasing access to home dialysis
